The actual name of the institution is Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya which is popularly called Brahma kumaris for easy memory recall. It is a university in itself that imparts spiritual value-based eduction to all types of people even from far and wide. The institution has earned national and international acclamation through it’s teachings. Headquartered in Mount Abu, Brahma kumaris have established their presence with coordinating offices and retreats across the world with over 20 centres in India itself. Its International headquarters in Mount Abu is known for its ancient heritage and is regarded as a sacred destination by many.

The institution operates with the belief in the parenthood of God and the brotherhood of man. While the entire world rides on the discriminating power of caste, creed and status, Brahma kumaris embrace the culture of global acceptance. History of the institution

The history of this institution dates back to the 1930s when a university in the name of Om Mandali was functioning in Sindh Hyderabad with a small population of men, women and children, in the early 1930s. It was the extraordinary events and visions of a respectful and wealthy man called Dada Lekhraj, that gave rise to the Brahma Kumaris. Eventually in 1937, the Brahma kumaris was established as a university with unprecedented value-based teachings. It wasn’t until 1950 when Brahma kumaris set-up its official headquarters in Mount Abu. Since the 1950s, the institution has grown rapidly; there has been no looking back. Their exponential growth led to the successful establishment of permanent centres in UK and Hong Kong in 1971. Today, their strength in terms of number and worldwide expansion is commendable.

Philosophy

The institution believes that all worldly vices can be eradicated only by building character in every human. Thus, Brahma kumaris are dedicated to creating a better tomorrow by instilling spiritual values in the people of today. The creation of Brahma Kumaris’ sister institutions namely ‘Raj Yoga Education and Research Foundation’ and ‘Brahma Kumaris Academy for a Better World’ are committed to achieving global harmony. Their teachings revolve around the spirit of brotherhood, love and co-operation that need to be exploited positively to bring in peace and harmony. Brahma kumaris facilitate people to have a clear goal in life and the best way to realise their goal through righteous means like  honesty, sincerity, goodwill and civic sense.
